David G. Aubrey, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO

Dr. David G. Aubrey, founder and CEO of the Woods Hole Group, provides overall scientific and engineering guidance. He performs high-level QA/QC on many WHG projects while managing many projects on his own. Prior to founding the Woods Hole Group, Dr. Aubrey was for 22 years a Senior Scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). While at WHOI, Dr. Aubrey served as Director of the Coastal Research Center where he oversaw and performed many studies in the area of the coastal environment and climate change. Dr. Aubrey has more than 90-refereed publications and numerous technical documents, and is co-author on several books. Dr. Aubrey specializes in international environmental projects including science, engineering, policy, legal, regulatory, and management. His most recent projects focus on coasts, rivers and their basins, terrestrial environments, and marine environments, for physical, chemical, biological, and information technology applications. Dr. Aubrey has developed international environmental programmes in diverse places such as the Black, Caspian, and Yellow Seas, Gulf of Honduras, West Indian Ocean, Guinea Current region of West Africa, and in the Middle East. He has directly assisted countries in the implementation of environmental policy, legal, regulatory, and integrated management regimes. Dr. Aubrey has performed many environmental impact analyses, health impact analyses, and audits to evaluate the impacts of proposed projects on both the environment and human health, for various sectors including intergovernmental bodies (UNEP, UNDP, World Bank, International Development Bank), national governments, local governments, commercial firms, and private individuals.Brief Bio Sketch

James J. Bajek, B.A., Senior Biologist/Project Manager

Mr. Bajek has over 30 years of experience in coastal and fresh water regulatory permitting, dredged material management and environmental assessment. He has been a regulator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 12 years and private consultant for the past 19 years. His expertise is particularly strong in the areas of federal and state agency interaction, dredging assessment, sediment characterization, ocean disposal assessment, marina improvements and coastal permitting. Mr. Bajek has managed several large projects involving water quality monitoring contaminated sediments, dredging and disposal in open water and upland. His past experience as a regulator provides his clients with expertise in resolution of conflicts with agencies regarding unauthorized activities, developing mitigation programs and conforming projects to the various regulations. Heidi J. Clark, Ph.D., Environmental Scientist

Ms. Clark is an environmental scientist with extensive experience in coastal ecology, environmental damage assessment, and habitat restoration. She has ten years of experience in environmental science and consulting, with projects ranging from environmental damage assessment to seagrass restoration to dune revegetation. Ms. Clark remains active in coastal scientific research as well. She is currently working on a long-term study of the effects of shellfish aquaculture on water quality as part of a multi-investigator project at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Prior work in landscape construction affords Ms. Clark an understanding of the many factors involved in habitat restoration and coastal construction projects. Her continued work in research and consulting has allowed Ms. Clark to develop research, writing, and project management skills. She has worked on both individual and multi-investigator projects, and has a proven ability to work effectively with personnel from government agencies, research scientists, individuals from civil society, and consultants. Jerome J. Cura, Ph.D., M.S., B.A., LSP, Senior Environmental Scientist

Dr. Cura is an ecological risk assessor, and a Licensed Site Professional in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is an expert in the area of ecological risk analysis. He has conducted ecological risk analyses in various freshwater systems, in marine and estuarine habitats, and in terrestrial environments. He has developed guidance for conducting risk assessments at dredging sites for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and he chaired the International Navigation Association's (PIANC) workgroup that developed international guidance. Dr. Cura's experience includes conducting assessments at CERCLA and RCRA sites (industrial and government facilities), providing technical advice on the design and execution of human health and ecological risk assessments, and providing expert testimony for law firms. Industry and Government organizations frequently invite him to lead or participate in environmental conferences or symposia. Dr. Cura works as a member of The Science Collaborative, a resource network of senior environmental scientists from the consulting industry and academia. He was a founding partner of Cura Environmental and Menzie-Cura & Associates, Inc. Dr. Cura has published over 30 peer-reviewed book chapters, technical papers, journal articles, and conference proceedings in the areas of risk assessment, environmental decision making, marine ecology, and dredged material disposal evaluation methods. He is a frequent contributor to Scientific Symposia. Dr. Cura is currently an adjunct faculty member at Cape Cod Community College where he teaches a course in Fundamentals of Oceanography. Paul C. Dreyer, P.E., DEE, Senior Civil Engineer

Mr. Paul C. Dreyer is a professional engineer with extensive experience in the development and implementation of projects in the environmental and water resources sectors. He has more than 30 years' experience in planning and implementing infrastructure programs in the United States, South Caucasus, Central Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim countries. Mr. Dreyer has developed an excellent knowledge of engineering projects with a demonstrated ability to oversee the management and implementation of all program activities. With a proven ability to work effectively in a multinational-team environment, he liaises effectively with personnel from government agencies, civil society, international donors, and consultants. Mr. Dreyer is a licensed Professional Engineer and is certified as Diplomat by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE). Brief Bio Sketch

Joseph Famely, M.E.M., Coastal Scientist

Mr. Joseph Famely has experience managing fieldwork, designing databases, calculating chemical exposures, developing models, and designing GIS documents. He has also conducted ecological risk assessments and characterizations at his former employer, Menzie-Cura & Associates. Joseph recently earned a M.E.M. degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies where he studied sustainable design, environmental science and policy, land use, planning and development, and restorative environmental design. He performed an Environmental Quality Review on behalf of Hudson River Valley Resorts in New York. This work included developing an energy and greenhouse gas model for a green resort and residential community development's NYSEQR Environmental Impact Statement. Additionally, he investigated geothermal feasibility and assessed the project's impact on public facilities and services. Mr. Famely's experience provides Woods Hole Group with in-house expertise to support Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) audits. Mr. Famely is currently supporting Task Orders for USACE-NAE related to the Long Island Sound Phase I and II Literature Searches, Long Island Sound Environmental Data Update, and he is investigating beneficial reuse sites for dredged material derived from Long Island Sound.Brief Bio Sketch
