Qualifications Summary
  • Participation in several deep-sea cruises since 1961 in the North, South Atlantic, and South Pacific collecting benthic organisms. Total accumulated sea time on oceanographic cruises in excess of 2 years. Scope of work involved construction of sampling and deck gear, travel and shipping logistics, sampling plans and sample and data handling and processing.
  • Analysis of deep-sea benthic samples, microphotography of deep-sea benthic invertebrates; effects of oil spills on the marine benthic environment including erosion studies, construction and design of benthic dredging equipment; research on local bay scallops – growth and reproduction studies,.
  • Minerals Management Service: biological monitoring program for Georges Bank, monitoring study of biological processes on the U.S. North Atlantic Slope and Rise; served as Chief Scientist for several of these MMS cruises for WHOI.
  • Cape Cod Bay Material Disposal Site Designation study; cruise leader in field collections and data assimilation of fish collections and benthic samples for draft report.
