Woods Hole Group, assisted by Dr. Lee Harris at Florida Institute of Technology, installed and provides maintenance assistance for a near-shore real-time wave, tide, and current monitoring system, which is deployed in 30 ft of water in the Atlantic Ocean off Stuart Public Beach in Martin County, FL.  The major components of the nearshore data collection system are a SeaPac 2248 Slope Array Directional Wave and Tide Gauge System, a beach video monitoring station, a weather station, an internal-recording PUV wave gauge, and all hardware and software necessary to process and display data at Martin County facilities.

A cable from the wave slope array interfaces with a shore box, which provides a power and communications link.  In addition, the wave slope array is equipped with a battery back-up system that powers data collection and storage.  Processed wave and tide data are transmitted to Martin County via phone lines.

The video monitoring station, together with image data processing and storage hardware, is deployed on the roof of the Holiday Inn at Jensen Beach, FL.  The weather station interfaces with the system shore box.

Woods Hole Group provided initial installation and training services, as well as maintenance services under warranty.
