In order to collect data for research projects conducted by Seoul National University (SNU), Woods Hole Group designed, built, and installed a Met-Ocean system that provides real-time monitoring of wind speed and direction, air and water temperature, barometric pressure, tides, and current profiles.  This system is installed off the East Coast of Korea.

This system consists of a surface Meteorological buoy, a sub-surface Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), and a tide station.  The Meteoro-logical buoy data are radio-telemetered to SNU, whereas the ADCP and tide station are hard-wired. Data are collected on a Base Station PC, where they are located at SNU and displayed graphically and sent via LAN to a database system in Seoul.  The database system archives all incoming data, and allows users to search and obtain the data via Internet.
