ICP-MS!
The ICP-MS was designed specifically for laboratories trying to analyze high volumes of inorganic trace metal samples while achieving the lowest detection limit requirements. For routine analysis of trace elements, it has equal or superior sensitivity when compared to graphite furnace atomic absorption allowing detection of all elements within a sample. It is capable of accurately measuring both high and low concentrations in one run. |

With
a mass resolution less than 1 atomic mass unit, individual isotopes can
be analyzed such as those for lead and thallium shown here. Interferences
for a sample matrix on one isotope can be resolved through analysis of
an alternate mass. Determination of isotopic ratios for source
identification is possible as well as isotope dilution mass spectrometry.
