Position Title:  Senior Coastal Engineer
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Perform project management and project work for coastal jobs, particularly as the work relates to capabilities as a Professional Engineer. Lead proposal efforts for Coastal Division. Assist the Business Unit Director with the formulation and implementation of marketing plans for the Coastal Division.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, manage and contribute to field programs, data analysis and numerical modeling tasks for coastal projects. 
  • Supervise scientific and engineering personnel in the Coastal Division by his/her leadership role as Project Manager. 
  • Serve as mentor to lower level staff and evaluates their performance for appropriate supervisors. 
  • Review project results, documents, and field data collection programs to verify accuracy and completeness in content and approach. Write and edit reports. 
  • Establish project budgets and monitors cost tracking for projects. 
  • Interface with Clients from proposal phase to project completion phase, either in small group settings or through public presentations. 
  • Write proposals and reviews proposals prepared by Coastal Division staff. 
  • Assist the Business Unit Director with marketing strategies for the Coastal Division and follow through with the formulated program. 
  • Report on status of projects, proposals and marketing efforts to company management. Guide/sponsor other staff members seeking to obtain Professional Engineering License.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:
Performance evaluations will be based on the following:
  • Successful project completion based on criteria of quality and client satisfaction
  • Successful project completion based on achievement of financial goals. Smooth interaction and demonstrated leadership in direction of Coastal Division personnel
  • Successful interaction with actual and prospective clients in designing projects and completing project goals
  • Success in initiating and closing sales
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Coastal Engineering or related scientific field. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required. Minimum of eight (8) years experience in consulting business or related career. Experience in field projects and data analysis. Strong quantitative abilities and computer expertise. Experience in wave modeling, sediment transport modeling and shoreline change analysis. Business acumen and financial analysis abilities. Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills.
