Woods Hole Group is preparing sections of an EIS for the Gateway Energy Bridge LNG port and pipeline lateral. The project involves the installation of a 16.4-mile long natural gas pipeline and an offshore deepwater port within state and federal waters of Massachusetts Bay. The work includes assessment of oceanographic conditions and marine biological resources in the vicinity of the port and pipeline lateral.

The biological resource work focuses on benthic communities, fishery resources, and marine mammals. Potential impacts on marine resources from construction and operation of both the port and pipeline lateral are being assessed. In addition, Woods Hole Group is preparing monitoring and mitigation criteria that will be incorporated into the EIS.

Lessons learned from Hubline construction are being incorporated into the analysis in order to produce a thorough, accurate, and unbiased assessment of potential impacts and monitoring requirements.
